Set up in front of Big Point Sauble and stayed near it all morning with lumpy water conditions and cool temps with a stiff breeze blowing out of the north. Cut our trip short this morning but not before boating a nice cooler of kings and a couple lake trout. Fished in 110-150' of water with j-plugs going first and meat rigs continuing to be the best all around lures. High dipsey divers out 170' with chrome killer spin doctor and green mile meat rigs being best combo. Hope to hear from you soon for this awesome king salmon fishing! Lie-a-lot @ (800)-850-1978

After fishing lake trout the last two trips we decided to take a long drive this afternoon with the guys from Epworth! Fishing started slow and never was real hot but we did end up with a nice bunch of steelhead, lake trout and a 14lb king salmon. Ran out in front of Manistee were a cold pocket of water had been holding a log of fish. All fish were on the surface rods (1 color, 3color, and free birds) with Yeck fireballs and Dreamweaver super slims in red and orange colors! The drive there is well over an hour each way but lots of fun when you get on the break in temp.

Hard north east winds has put cold water on the surface out front making fishing very tough. We set up this morning out in 200' of water in front of the pump storage plant and trolled west for two hours. This proved to be a bad move with no bites and no signs of fish either! Turned east shortly after 9am and went into 100' of water were we saw fish down near the bottom. We reset with Dreamweaver paddles and fly's and some lake trout rigs and managed to put together a real nice box of lake trout. The lake will settle in and fishing will continue to improve. Looking forward to the next week and weeks to come!

Fishing has been pretty slow the last few days after the hard north winds churned the water up. Decided to run way out and south and had some steelhead biting on the surface with yeck fireball being the best on 2 color leadcore lines. We fished out 15 miles for most of our trip in the cold water then came east as the evening came. The warmer inside water was holding a few kings and a couple lake trout. Kings we had on came on a full (10) core with a glow spoon in green jeans. Also a downrigger down 50 with a blue jackall. Congratulations to my crew on their wedding and best wish to the future from the crew and family of Lie-A-Lot charter!

The spring kings have arrived. There have only been a few small kings caught to this point but this morning we were able to get some very nice kings early.  Set up half way between Ludington and Big Point Sauble lighthouse in 100' of water. Our first lines in were wire divers with Dreamweaver spin doctors and Big water meat rigs. The high divers were out 240' and the low divers were out 140'. Both sides took quite a few fish. The out and down downrigger was at 47' with Yeck magnum blue dolphin and it caught a few and lost a few.
I also had the center downrigger at 91' with a white crush on crush 10" spin doctor and pickled sunshine fly and it two caught a couple fish.  The fishing was very very good early but slowed way down after the morning bite.  June is looking very good with these salmon finally showing up!!!!!!!  Give me a call (800)-850-1978 and book your trip soon for June!!!!

Set up in front of pump storage plant in 120' and trolled southwest to just over 300'. 7 color leadcore and 10 color leadcore were the best with glow spoons and downriggers at 40 and 50' were productive as well. Weather has really played havoc on everyones well planned fishing trips! After days upon days of wind and rain I've started to get out recently. There is a huge plume of cold water out front that is not holding ANY fish! The outside of it though has plenty of fish and bait. The key is getting on them. This day we fished straight out of the Ludington pier heads setting up in 100' and trolled southwest out to 225'. Fish all came in 40'-60' on spoons and a few nibbles on big water meat rigs. Try trolling faster to cover more water until you get over a school, then circle them.

As I thought, the fishing is getting significantly better daily! The winds have kept us off the lake for a couple days but even with the blow days fish are plentiful. Ran out of Ludington harbor North West to 59s North and 36 West or 10 miles out and trolled West from there. Big water meat rigs in total kaios and green mile performed well behind a dreamweaver spin doctor in Kevin's girlfriend (the names they give um) and tuxedo on 300' and 400' coppers. Also two downriggers down 70' and 90' were good with the same meat rigs. Book your charter soon, boats going in to storage in less than a month and fishing is good!

Everything is a month late this year and this will make September the month to fish with still little fish in the rivers. Look forward to hearing from you soon.  Capt Mike

Fishing has been very tough with the normal early summer lul accruing now, late summer because of this years long and cold winter. Some of the big salmon are trickling in but the big mass of them are still scattered about throughout the lake. Fished this day and for the last week just outside the Ludington harbor in 30-50'. The morning bite consisted of :-plugs on short cores when able to run them because of overwhelming boat traffic. Meat rigs also on all four dipsey divers have occasionally taken fish.

Fishing had been quite good. The full moon and east winds though the last couple of days has made the fish hard to get to bite and the water extremely cold. I have been fishing out front of Ludington in 30-60' of water and have some successes but not a lot of numbers of fish. The fish we are catching though are large in the 17-25# range. I have been running big water meat rigs and dreamweaver spin doctors on my divers out 60' on highs and 40-50' on the low wire divers. In the mornings i have taken a few fish on my out and down downriggers as well with double glow j plugs made by Luhr Jensen. Don't expect big numbers of fish though with the average catch being only 3-7fish but, they are big fish. Getting a new phone set up now and will stay up with reports now. Good fishing.

The boat traffic was horrible but I was able to run way North and outside the swarm. Big Water Meat rigs continue to dominate behind Dreamweaver spindoctors. J-plugs by Dreamweaver in Natural Glow as well as a Yellowtail glow spoon went early but after that it was all meat rigs.

Have been fishing south for a while now. Ran out in front of the Ludington Pump Storage plant in 400'of water. Set up deep and ended up pulling all and reseting all high baits in the top 30', The best being a high line with the biggest split shot I had aboard. The lure of choice is a yeck 44" in Pats bait.  The one colors and three colors as well were productive with bright lures in yeck brand and dreamweaver ss in watermelon and sog.(silver orange and green) I pulled my low divers and the shute downrigger because only my planer boards were going.  I let out two high divers ( one on each side) and brought the out and down riggers up and free slid them. That was not the ultimate answer but it did work and all four took bites after that. Have been fishing just about everyday, when weather allows, and am sorry for the lapse in more consist fishing reports. Book Your Charter Soon For JULY And AUGUST or there may not be dates available. Set lines in front of Bathhouse in 60' of water (01) and set a North heading. Fish started biting right away with three riggers and 4 divers we had 2 on. We stayed under 80' all morning and picked away throughout. The early morning bite has been very good but very short lived!! Best baits are glow spoons 40', 47' and 51' stacked 10' apart. Divers also have been productive with blue bubble spin doctors and green glow fly.

Fishing in June continues as normal to be steady and a lot of fun. Set up south of the Ludington harbor and trolled southwest. We set up in 80" and turned in 180' with the southwest more productive than the northeast. The best lures were yeck jarred, yeck wart frog both on 10 color leadcore. Speed at the ball was 2.1 with the colder water the fish seem to prefer the troll a little faster than the fall normal salmon speed of 1.4-1.8. Don't be afraid to put out a few high lines either the one color and two color lead cores with yeck fireballs took a few bites and caught a fish apiece.

Seriously it cant get any better than taking out five people and catching there limit of 25 king salmon! We left the dock at 5am and ran north west to before the bathhouse at the Ludington State Park in 80' of water and started setting um. (00.5 and 32.9) We had three downriggers with yeck jarred yeck lightnings and a wart frog stacked 10' apart. I started letting out my first diver and the out and down 41 down with jarreds fires. We get that in and the other out and down goes at 51 with the lightnings. This continuned for about our first 5 fish then slowed for about a 20 span allowing us to get the dipsey divers and a couple full cores out. The rest of the day was good throughout as the picture shows! Best baits were the yeck lightning and jarreds on downriggers and the absolute best was a Yeck wart frog on a ten color and 225 copper. These fish are absolutely perfect health wise, the meat was firm and there bellys were full of alwives! We saw big balls of bait fish throughout the day as well down by bottom. That is were our bigger kings were coming on the 225 coppers and full cores. The reason these were within 15' of bottom is because we spent our morning in 58- 85' of water! Don't wait to long to book your charter in July or August these fish are Here NOW and as these reports show this fishing continues to be GREAT!

Fishing continues to be just absolutely amazing! Started out so so and ended with a bang. Set up in front of the Ludington State Park bathhouse in 60' of water and fished north up past Big Point Sauble about 2 miles. Downriggers at 40', 50', 60' with yeck lightnings stacked at 40 dreamweaver carmel dolphins stacked at 50 and the center rigger at 60' with moonshine bloody noses. The full cores or 10 colors had Yeck jarred and Yeck lightning and the 225 coppers had meat rigs. I opted out on the 300' copper meat rigs I had been using and went with dreamweaver lemon ice and another carmel dolphin. We trolled north working the shelf on and off from 60' to 150' and hand 10 nibbles on the north troll only boating 4 fish but steady action. We turned around in 05.80 or 2 miles north of Big point Sauble and started our up wind. The upwind seemed to be a lot slower troll, speed wise and fish biting wise! All that time though on the up troll paid off though when we got past the bathhouse in 00s and 85' of water. First both ten colors went simultaneously and as went finished getting those fish in the downriggers started in! From 01.2 to the bottom of the 00 we caught 14 fish in just under 2 hours! The picture is a little blurry but as you can see 20 fish is all the law would allow us to possess!!!! If you have not experienced this May and June fishing you truelly are missing out. Book your June trip soon you will agree THIS IS AWESOME

Have been fishing regularly and fishing continues to be lights out good! Set up straight out in front of the Ludington Pier Heads in 60' of water with 3 color, 5 color and 10 color leadcores with moonshine glows. Had two out and down riggers with moonshines as well and two low and two high wires with meat rigs out 140 on highs and 100 on lows. The center downrigger was down by bottom with meat as well. The bites started right away and ended right away as well. I heard of boats getting fish in that 60-80 all morning but it wasnt happening for me today. We set our troll on the same southwest I had the past week and instead of turning around I stayed on it for 5 miles far into the cold water (44 degrees). The first out troll produced 4 kings and then things went dead for about an hour. We did the better part of our in troll with no success then when we got back in the 100-80' hit a few small steelhead and a lake trout. We went back on the southwest and when we hit the 33.50 line in about 160' things started really banging. The high leadcores were going well with 3 color fireball and 7color double orange crush both yeck lures. The full cores or 10 colors both went once with a silver streak hot lobster, and yeck mixed vegetable. Notice I did not say moonshines? This is the first time in two weeks they did not want the moonshines. I took them all off and went to brighter baits and that was definately the ticket. Give me a call for this absolutely awesome June Fishing!

The water in front on the Ludington Pier heads seems to get cold in the mid 40s one day and then back up in the 50s the next. As I run out each day i notice this, so today as I left the pier heads I saw again it was in the 50s and saw quite a bit of bait fish. We ran out only just over 2.5 miles and started setting um in 65' of water. I put it out a SW troll and figured if the fish inside didnt go eventually we would be back out to my marks from yesterday were we had success. This worked out very well and with 5 rods in both out and down riggers went with moonshine regular bloody nose on one side and yellow submarines on the other down 41 and 51 stacked 10' apart. We had just netted those and reset and the ten color or full core goes with a green jeans and the other ten as well with a blue jeans we managed to get one of those. The rest of the sw troll went good as well and when we finally turned just before the 35 line and cold water outside of us we had 8 in and lost a few. The in troll back on the same line like normal was not as successful but a few fish were taken and given. The rest of the day was never really any big lulls just a steady bite here and there. The other boat in the group also had success and all went home with quite a bit of meat and great stories to tell. Also a few of my 16 fish today were just under 20# so the big four year olds are starting to move in as well. Still days available in June and as the picture shows the fishing is FINTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The hard North west winds have made Big Point Sauble cold from top to bottom again. I opted to fish to the south were the water was and generally is less affected by these hard northerly winds. Fishing started out pretty good and we were well on our way. I had three downriggers down 60 on the center or chute out and downs were at 40 and 50' with moonshine lures stacked 10 foot apart. One side had yellow submarines and one side stacked with bloody nose all in regular size with the chute having a 10' showtime spin doctor with a moo moo meat rig. Those three took the first 5 fish of the morning. Then came a slow hour, hour and a half were it seemed the fish had vacated the area. I put the boat on a west troll from the 80' we had fished up tell about 8am in front of the Pump storage plant. It wasnt until we dropped in water depth to about 160' of water when we started hitting fish again. Seemed to be an aweful lot of small fish around. We threw a couple hand fulls of small ones back and in the end had to box 6 of um that had been dragging throughout the day. All in all though a very successful trip with only that dead period after the morning bite and the last hour was dead as well. The past two weeks we had been getting steelhead but today those high spoons and free slide downriggers were very unsuccessful for the acrobatic rainbow.

Fishing started out slow today but more than made up for it! Started setting lines in 80' of water in the 00 and 33s or south of the Sauble River outlet. The water was warm about 57 degrees so I figured the fish would be active early. They were not. We put out a 1 color leadcore with a fireball and 3 color with a dreamweaver ss mixed vegetable. The other boards one each side were a full core and a 300 copper all four with moonshine regular blood nose and regular green jeans. The rigger changed throughout the day with meat on the center rigger and divers. We started out with a few bites early and then just went completely silent until we crossed Big Point Sauble and kept working north. After the point was very very good! Best for downriggers was a set of yeck Jarreds stacked ten foot apart down 41'. The 300 coppers were very good as well with Moonshine green jeans on one side and moonshine blue jeans on the other side in regular size. There was quite a bit of current I notice down below and my south troll seemed fast but only showed 2.0 down 40' on my depth raider. Still have many open days in June and fishing is absolutely FANTASTIC! Book your trip soon.

Third and final trip for the weekend with good friends Tony Norvell and the trusty family from the Trusty Insurance group out of Ohio. Fishing stated out slow and never really became hot and heavy, just a pick. The lake was a lot rougher than the last two trips the day before and the water was moving. I went back out to the same water we had success in the last two trips and it had not changed. We set up and started catching and loosing fish so I figured we were in good shape. We had steady bites and never any dry spells but the water was getting rougher and moving very fast. I heard a few boats did well..... (After the fact of course) in tighter 100'-120' which is the direction in which we ended up in the end and had about the same action as we had been. The Downriggers again were useless and the meat took a few on the divers as well as a blue bubble 8" spin doctor with a green glow dreamweaver fly behind it on a high wire out 150'. The lows that had been all weekend with meat were out 100' with a heavy dipsey diver. The fishing even though not as productive as the last two trips was still good though and everybody went away happy!

Fished again in front of the Ludington Pump Storage plant pretty much the same area as the morning only trolled a little farther to the north stay a little more out front of the Ludington harbor in the 54 line north. The meat rigs on the divers were good again but I did not have a single bite on the downriggers. I sure did though have a pile of spoons stacked up out back on the work tray of tried and true lures that WOULD NOT GO on the downriggers. The best was again the 3 and 7 color lead cores with spoons in fireball red and mixed vegetable by Yeck Lures. The fishing was a little slower than the morning even though we boat more fish the action seemed to be a little lighter. Once again thought the fishing was better more towards daylight hours and as evening wore down the fishing slowed. Maybe try fishing the mid day period......Seemed to be the best time for us.

Fishing is still as good as ever. Started out at 5:40am setting lines in front of the Ludington Pump storage plant in 110 feet of water (52.00 south and 32.50 west). Started out the morning with three down riggers, four wire divers and 3 colors of lead on both sides out on planer boards, 7 color after that and inside board being a 10 color or full core. Meat rigs were on all four wire divers and on the center downrigger. The planer boards were rigged with moonshine lures in bloody nose, yellow submarine, and the 3 colors with one side a fireball and one side a mixed vegetable both made by yeck lure company. The best was definately the meat rigs on the divers and the center or shute rigger took a couple. Don't be too concerned with getting our early (which is normal this time of year with the colder water) the fish definately bit betteras the day warmed and the sun rose. There was a 6 degree brake that we fished from the 33 line west to the 35 line westthe water became incresingly colder as we went west. Book your trip now before your date is gone!

Fishing has been very very good for the last few weeks! Just put the boat in Friday and had Joe Yobb come over as he normally does for the first couple trips of the year.  Fishing Started off fast and never really stopped!!!!!  Fished south around the Ludington Pump Storage plant in 7-18ft. of water. Started off with four boards on each side with the three outside running  size 11 floating rapalas and the inside board on both sides was a 2 color leadcore with one having a dreamweaver ss starburst and the other side had a a yech jarred. The best color rapalas were black and gold and rainbow trout pattern. The spoons were as productive as the rapalas though. Also had a diver out on the starboard side for our nineth rod out 20ft. and it did take a couple Lake trout and a Brown trout with a yeck jarred as well. Fishing is well, as I stated in the beginning very very good and these great eating brown trout will not be around later on so book your charter soon!!!!!!!    Capt. Mike

Fished P.M. Lake for the same reason. The most fish have been caught in there. The lake is all mixed up and many fishing out there are either getting skunked or at most 2-3 little fish. Get out early because they shut rite down after that sun comes through.

Fishing has been very tough on the big lake and thus I am staying in the channel or in p.m. lake. Fished first light with all Glow j-plugs and meat on the dipsey divers and a 5 color lead core and a 3 color lead core on the sides with plugs as well. The fish bite early and then completely stop biting once the sun rises

Fishing was really good early out front of Ludington in 30-40' with J-plugs being the lure of choice on 5 color lead cores and 3 color lead cores. Also had both out and down downriggers go at the same time this morning with plugs. The bite was fast and furious than ended for us as fast as it started. Once again get out very early and be ready!
